Senés is located in the mountain range “Sierra
de Filabres” at an altitude of 1000 meters, surrounded by hilly mountains
on which the Moors built terraces to plant vine-stocks. Today they are full of
almond-trees that when in blossom, seem to dye the mountain skirts in pink and
white.
The houses are solid with roofs of slate and white-washed walls. The Church is
of Mudejar style and is located in the town square with the town hall.
In spite of being a small village it has two restaurants which are also café/bars
and stores, there is a swimming pool, tennis court, a sports centre and a
children’s playground. There is a picnic area with barbecues which is located
at the far end of the village near an old traditional public wash-house
where the town women used to collectively wash clothes. From here there is a
trail that takes you to the ruins of a once important Alcazaba Árabe ( Moorish
Castle)..
